Judge Carrie Hyams

Judge Carrie Hyams was sworn in as the new judge for the Court of Common Pleas on Friday December 27th 2019 at the Cumberland County Court House in Carlisle, PA.  Judge Carrie Hyams & her husband John Hyams contacted me last week to come and photograph her being sworn in.

First Contact

Upon arriving at the court house & first contact with John & Carrie I have to admit I was a little nervous.  I photograph weddings and events on a regular basis, but never anything this official!  I was excited for the opportunity & to meet them & their families in person. John proclaimed over the phone during our first conversation that this is a once in a lifetime experience for Carrie.  They wanted it documented by a professional photographer.  Lucky for them, I couldn’t wait for the day!

After meeting them in the lobby we quickly made our way up to the 4th floor where the event was to take place.  Shortly after I arrived loads of people came pouring into the court room until it was so full that it was standing room only.  There were others being sworn in that day also so between their families & friends it made for a full house!

The Album In Mind

I photographed some of the other elected officials & their interactions with the guests so that I could create an album of memories for Judge Carrie Hyams & her family.  One of the things I love about being a photographer is helping families not only capture memories, but preserve them. Preservation means printing.

I understand that sometimes it can be overwhelming to pick out what will work best for your home, gifts for relatives, or an album, so I am there to help you figure out what will work best for you. My favorite part of working with you is getting to see your reaction in person when you see your images for the first time & creating a beautiful custom album for you to view.

Viewing & Ordering Appointment

The Viewing & Ordering session takes place at the studio.  I’ll have samples of all of the different kinds of print products I offer. I offer mounted wall art, canvas galleries, albums, display boxes, etc.   We’ll sit down, and I’ll show you all the final images from your portrait session in a slideshow. This gives you a good overview of the session.  At this point, don’t worry too much about specifics — just sit back and relax and enjoy!

After the slideshow, we’ll talk about your initial thoughts — what would you like to do with these images?  If you have a clear idea of what you are interested in we can go through the images one by one with that in mind. We go through once to pick your wall art, another time to pick your gift prints for Grandma, etc. If you’re not sure yet, that’s fine too!  We’ll go through and put the images into one of three “buckets” — Yes, No, Maybe.  Once we have the initial sort done, we can then see how many images we’re looking at.  We will talk about what might make the most sense to do with them.  Once you’ve picked your products and images, I’ll go over what we’ve discussed.  I’ll put together your order form. When all of this is done you pay for your images.  I take check, cash, or credit card to finalize the order.
